| Appraiser Comments: | Thank you for the additional information. The artwork that you have submitted for inquiry is an original oil painting on canvas that has been created by an artist who has signed the painting at the lower right-hand corner as "Claude Terray". I have extensively researched the oil painting and the signature which you have submitted for appraisal and have found a few listings for this artist. All of the listings for Claude Terray are seascape paintings which appear similar in content and with regard to the locale depicted. The beautifully-rendered seascape of an unknown location may be an area located along the coast of New Zealand or Australia. Any information that I have found regarding Claude Terray originated from New Zealand and Australia. Perhaps Claude Terray is from this area of the world and is more well-known as a regional artist rather than an artist known internationally. Time period for completion of the artwork is most likely mid to late 20th Century. The artwork appears to be in good condition other than the four tears that are located at the top border of the painting. The tear repairs could be done by a qualified restorer for around $100 to $200. In its present condition. the painting would be valued at approximately $400.00 (auction) and $700 (replacement value). Thank you for your inquiry. Sara Kinch |
