| Most often asked questions from our customers | |
| Who appraises my item? | |
Each item is individually appraised by an expert specifically chosen for their knowledge and experience in their category. All on-line appraisers are very active in the marketplace and are completely up to date with current values. |
|
| How do I determine the condition of my item? | |
With our unique "Grade my item like the experts" section, you are able to confidently send us grading information to help ensure the accuracy of your final appraisal. |
|
| What if I don't even know what my item is or choose the wrong category when listing my item? | |
Once you have submitted your information for appraisal, we will review the item to determine what it is and double check to ensure the correct category has been chosen. We will direct your appraisal to the appropriate specialist. |
|
| How long does it take to get an appraisal done? | |
Our standard turnaround time is 72 hours (3 business days) for appraisals. Very often, however, you will receive your appraisal much quicker. If your item submitted is unusually unique or esoteric, you will be notified as to how long it will take in order to accurately provide you with appraisal information. |
|
| How much does an appraisal cost? | |
| Our standard on-line appraisal fee for single items is $9.95. Other pricing is available for multiple submissions and affiliates. | |
| What will an appraisal tell me about my item? | |
There are two main benefits to having an on-line appraisal done. Your item will be properly identified and described. As well, accurate up-to-date market value will be assigned to your item. |
|
| How do I sell my item? | |
In order to remain unbiased and provide integrity of service, Whatsitworthtoyou.com™ does not solicit or engage in the purchase of any items submitted for appraisal on our website. Upon final receipt of your on-line appraisal, you will be offered options such as "Sell my item on-line at auction" or "Sell my item to a dealer" or "Sell my item in the classifieds". Choosing one of these options will direct you to the appropriate location. |
|
| When do I get billed? | |
You are billed for your appraisal upon submission. If your appraisal is unable to be processed, your credit card will be credited. |
|
| Is my appraisal confidential? | |
Absolutely! Even the person appraising your item does not have access to your personal information. This ensures an unbiased appraisal. |
|
| What if I have a collection of items for appraisal? | |
We offer a discount for multiple submissions in the same category. For example if you have a collection of baseball cards, coins, model trains etc. the discount is in proportion to the number of items submitted. If the collection as a whole is considered a single item (ie. Place setting of china, Dining room suite, Nesting dolls etc. ) You may submit images of the entire collection for a single appraisal. |
|
| What if I need a full physical appraisal of my item? | |
Often an insurance company will request a full physical appraisal of an item in order to properly and accurately provide insurance coverage on an item. You will be offered links taking you to accredited Appraisal Association websites with listings of members certified to provide full physical appraisals. |
|
| How do I know if my item is real or not? | |
Every item has its' own unique characteristics which help to determine authenticity and genuineness of an item. The ability to determine this, comes from many years of experience and dealing with the particular item and items similar to it. |
